Priya’s Smokey Jalapeño Bread – from Great British Bake Off

I love the Great British Bake Off! Ok, who doesn’t? My favorite is always Bread Week. I immediately go to their website to search for the recipes for my favorite bakes, and sometimes I am lucky enough to find just the one I want. Thus was the case with Priya’s smoky jalapeño bread.

Look at that filling! I used more cheese on the top than she did, I am very happy with how it turned out.

I am not usually a BBQ sauce fan, so I was going to skip making the dipping sauce. Boy am I glad I didn’t! I will use this recipe whenever I make anything that calls for a BBQ sauce or marinade.

Instead of retyping the recipe here, I will give you the link because it was very easy to follow. https://thegreatbritishbakeoff.co.uk/recipes/all/priya-smoky-jalapeno-bread/

As I was reading the recipe, I saw that it called for tomato powder – I had never heard of tomato powder. So I googled it, I may buy some for future use, but for today I substituted 1 tablespoon of tomato paste. I added it when adding the ingredients for the dough rather than to the dry smoky seasoning. Flavor-wise it worked perfectly, and it turned my dough into and even deeper orange color.

Although the recipe says this is challenging, it was very straightforward and easier than many of the other breads I make. It was a beautiful dough to work with.

Definitely give the bread a try. It makes a wonderful lunch, enjoy!
