In the last 2 days, we have not driven very far, but we have been to 6 states (Maryland, West Virginia, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Kentucky, and now Indiana). The dog cooled off at a the dog park at Salt Fork State Park in Ohio – the first dog park I have seen that has its own lakefront. He had a blast swimming, playing with other dogs, and, of course, digging!
We started the day yesterday at the Farmers Market in Morgantown, WV., what a nice farmers market.
I was able to start my collection of local honey and preserves. I opted for the darker honey from the blueberry farm, and after tasting dandelion, black locust, and redbud jellies, I decided the dandelion had the best flavor and consistency. I think it will be great with almond butter.
Of course, we couldn’t pass up the fresh veggies. Cam was a hit with all the parents as he walked around munching on his cucumber, but how could you not love this?
We picked up a cinnamon challah to bring to our friends (along with a jar of my sun-dried tomatoes). We had dinner both last night in Ohio and tonight in Indiana with old friends; the best way to spend the evenings.
The highlight of today was going to the Cincinnati Zoo to see Fiona the hippo. It was a wonderful day at the zoo; despite it being very hot the animals were active and playful. Aside from Fiona meeting and surpassing all my expectations, the tiger was playing in the water with a large ball – what a treat to see!
Stay tuned, for more adventures from our cross country adventure…
