30 x 30 Challenge, day 1

Ok, time to get it on with the Challenge and spend some quality time with nature!

For day 1, I decided to walk the path in a county park I had never visited.  I was very unimpressed, it was a very boring 2.6 mile path that skirted the edge of some woods.  Then, I came across a trail that went into the woods.  I couldn’t resist it, and in no time found myself in the midst these woods…

I was surrounded by bird calls and even saw a deer as she skirted away when I approached.  So my 2 word description of my nature experience today is:  pleasantly surprised.

I kind of wish I started this  last week since I spent several days hiking in the Columbia Gorge with my son.  We had beautiful weather and incredible scenery!

Multnomah Falls

Some days he hiked,

The Lake Loop Trail at Skamania Lodge

others he rode on my back (even using the ride as nap time).

On the way to Wachella Falls

Spending time in nature is a lot easier out there, and easier when I am on vacation.  With my 3 hour commute, getting in a full half hour every day will take a concerted effort, but I am looking forward to it!

Let me know what you think of this post, and if you try the recipe, please let me know how it was and any suggestions you have. Thanks, Andrea
